A nonprofit started in 1961 by student volunteers in the favelas (slums) of Caracas, Venezuela, ACCION has offered small but critical loans (microcredit) and other vital services to millions of supposedly "unbankable" low-income small business owners throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, the United States, Africa, and India.
