HELP WITH CRISIS PREGNANCY & BEYOND: MOTHER AND CHILD HEALTH (DURING & AFTER PREGNANCY)

Access to Maternal Child Health Care (by Country, Territory, Etc.)

Below you can find information on the health care systems and services in almost every country, territory, or dependency on Earth, including all the United Nations member states. We list each country's health ministry, if it is online, if it is not, then we substitute the country's health profile according to one or more of these United Nations agencies: World Health Organization or its regional offices, such as the one for the Americas (PAHO), Africa (AFRO), or the Western Pacific (WPRO); UNICEF--UN Children's Fund; and UNFPA--UN Population Fund. Even if a country's health ministry is online, the country profile published by these UN agencies can also be helpful and informative.

We offer these resources in the hope that our visitors can more easily find and access lifesaving, lifeaffirming maternal and child health services for themselves and their children, before, during, & after birth. We also hope to help people of different nations learn from one another's strengths and shortcomings on the urgent matter of public responsibility for mother and child health. Comprehensive public commitment to maternal child health is a critical form of relief for the root causes of abortion, whatever its legal status. See also our page on
Crisis Pregnancy Support. These resources, too, can help women and children in need find free or low-cost or local health care.

Please email any corrections or omissions to editor(at)nonviolentchoice.info, and please also note that we will soon expand our resources on
Where to Get Family Planning to be similarly global and detailed in scope. Family planning, too, is a vital component of maternal health.

Please try the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA's) national Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator. See the FAQs for information about treatment for people without insurance and for court-ordered clients.

Want to quit smoking? Protect yourself and your baby from the smoke. Try Quitnet.

Need mental health services? You are not the only one. That is why SAMHSA's National Center for Mental Health Information has a Mental Health Services Locator. The FAQs include such topics as insurance and other ways to pay for your treatment; homelessness; and protection and advocacy for people with severe psychiatric problems.

Are you an undocumented immigrant? You may still be able to find free or low-cost health care for yourself or your child(ren). Some examples: Not all US states deny public benefits like Medicaid to undocumented people. Many local Healthy Start programs and free clinics are glad to help undocumented immigrants. Some hospitals and clinics have charitable funds or offer discounts for health care. If you need pregnancy care, you can also contact one of the organizations under Crisis Pregnancy Support and ask for help finding a doctor who will help you and your baby at no or low cost. Please try as many resources as you can, and please do not give up.
